Every taxpayer requires the GST state code while registering for GST and entering GST invoice details online.
After a new GST registration, every business will receive a 15 digit GSTIN number (which has a 2-digit GST state code, 10-digit PAN number, 1-digit registration number, and a 2-digit check digit). which is required for filing the GST returns.
The first two digits of the GSTIN number are the GST state code which represents that state. There is a different state code for every state.
