The government is soon planning to reduce the number of clearances that are required to open a Kirana store or any eatery. Currently, 28 clearances are required to open a Kirana store including the GST registration and the license under the Shops and Establishment Act.
There are 17 approvals that are required to open an Eatery/Dhaba/Restaurant.
All of the clearances are different for every city.
A restaurant owner, for example, has to submit 24 documents including going to the police for verification.
Now, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal trade (DPIIT) is also considering to cancel the need for renewal of licenses.
This will help small business owners to focus on running their business smoothly or on business expansion rather than running to different government offices.
The NRAI (National Restaurants Association of India) has cited that there are many rules to be followed and licenses to be obtained which can be a burden on the restaurant owner. Because of this, the NRAI has suggested that there be a uniform code for restaurants at a national level digitally.
This reduction of licenses and the rules that are there for a Kirana store owner or a restaurant owner will make the functioning of these businesses easier.
